We are Daniel and Kerry, two proud Mancunians who have called Neukölln home since 2012. Since opening the doors in 2018, our wish has been for Barra to feel like a familiar living room; relaxed, welcoming, and unpretentious. From the playlists we spend far too long compiling to our cookbooks stacked in the back room, Barra is a place where we get to share the things we like with all of you. That’s why we opted for an open kitchen; not only so guests can watch us working together—but because we like to be able to see you enjoying yourselves too.

Over seven years, we have honed our concept but our approach has always remained the same. We are meticulous and produce-focused with cooking that is grounded in the classics but reflects the experiences of an international team.

Our focus is on working with the best suppliers and treating every ingredient—from whole-animal butchery to pickling and preserving—with the attention and respect it requires. And as Barra is captured as much in the glass as it is on the plate, we work with trusted European producers we know personally and whose methods we deeply admire.

We are led by the seasons but guided by what’s best. Quality comes first. That means outstanding regional produce alongside citrus sourced from Italy at its peak, or seafood from the cold waters of Brittany. When it comes to our drinks, we seek wines that represent a respectful sense of place, whether that be true expressions of the region or deliberate departures from tradition.

Shaped by the people who cook in it, pour in it, and gather in it, Barra is a neighbourhood restaurant open Monday to Friday. Whether it be for frequent casual meals or to celebrate a special occasion, our main achievement is being a place that guests return to again and again.

We hope to see you soon.
